Local Travel Options
In addition to cabs and rideshares, Portland has a couple other ways to get around.
Directly outside the hotel doors is a Trimet MAX Light Rail stop for the Red, Blue and Green lines, with a stop for the Yellow line a few blocks away. Within walking distance, there is easy access to the 6, 8, 77, 292 and FX2-Division bus routes, A Loop and B Loop streetcars, and a Biketown bikesharing station. Finally, ridesharing services are always available within the city, allowing you to get to your destination with ease.
-
TriMet is Portland’s public transit, and its ticketing system is called a Hop Card. You can pay your fare in advance using the Hop Fastpass app, at a card machine before boarding, or with a contactless payment method while boarding. They have numerous customer service people too; don’t be afraid to ask for help. Trimet fares work like this:
-
Fare lasts 2.5 hours.
-
Please tap every time you board. You will only be charged once within 2.5 hours.
-
If you board again after 2.5 hours is up, it costs another 2.5 hour fare, but automatically grants you a day pass.
-
TriMet bus and lightrail fares are $2.80 for adults for 2.5 hours of riding. Fares can be paid via tap-to-pay, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.
-
-
TriMet also operates LIFT Paratransit for those who can’t use regular buses or trains.
-
Some TriMet transit stations have Park & Rides, which is free parking beside a bus or train stop, but these stations are usually quite far from downtown Portland - Beaverton, Milwaukie, Gresham, etc. Overnight parking is permitted, but not for longer than 24 hours.
-
The Portland Streetcar is a public transit circuit. The A Loop and B Loop travel clockwise and counterclockwise around downtown Portland. It shares ticketing with TriMet, so fare for one works for the other.
-
Bicycles are available on the street for renting through Nike Biketown.
-
Electric scooters are available on the street for renting through Lime.
Ridesharing / Taxi
The city of Portland has a few private transportation options, including Lyft, Uber and Radiocab. Lyft is the dominant rideshare network in the city of Portland.
Getting There
The easiest way to map out the route from your location is to use your phone’s mapping program – such as Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. However, we have also written up instructions for transit hubs.
From the Airport
The easiest way to get to the hotel from the airport is the Trimet MAX Light Rail. From the Baggage Claim area, follow the signs to head to Public Transportation / MAX Red line station. From there, board the Red line. Depart the Red line at the Convention Center stop, then walk north across the street to arrive at the hotel.
Alternatively, you may board the 292 bus route. From the Baggage Claim area, follow the signs to head to the bus station. From there, board the 292 bus. Depart the bus at Multnomah & 3rd, then walk south on Third Ave to arrive at the hotel.
The airport also has a dedicated rideshare and tax pickup zone, allowing easy transportation with Lyft and Uber. To get to the pickup zone, simply head down the escalators from the baggage claim area, which will lead you underground. To the left, a set of stairs and elevators will take you up to the pickup zones. From there, you will see signage for the respective Lyft and Uber zones.
From the Train Station/Bus Stop
Union Station is the Portland station for the Amtrak trains and is directly across the river from the hotel. A few short blocks away is the pickup spot for long distance buses such as the Greyhound and Flixbus services.
Since the bus stop and train station are so close to each other, the following directions will be written starting at the train station. If you arrived by Greyhound/Flixbus, walk south down 6th Ave under the bridge and arrive at the entrance to Union Station.
The station and hotel are a single MAX Light Rail stop away from each other. Less than a block away is a stop for the MAX Green and Yellow lines. Start by walking one block south down 6th Ave. Board the Green line towards Clackamas TC. Depart the Green line at the following stop, then walk north across the street to arrive at the hotel.
Alternatively, you may request a Lyft or Uber to get to the hotel. The rideshare pickup zone is located just outside of the train station entrance.
Parking
Parking Guidelines
-
Never park in businesses’ parking lots unless you are actively engaging with that business. They will have vehicles towed.
-
Assume that parking is not secured, so follow the usual advice. Take valuables with you and lock your car.
-
The Hyatt parking garage may only available to people staying at the hotel.
-
Furlandia is not taking place during a scheduled event, so public street parking is normal price.
-
Portland maintains some maps and resources to assist with parking.
-
Furlandia cannot validate parking. 🙁
Nearby Parking Lots
These parking lots have their own rates posted at the entrance to each lot. They always have their own ticket machines different from the ones for street (public) parking. Some have attendants or automated kiosks at their entrances. These lots aren’t secured, so follow the usual advice: lock your vehicles and remove visible valuables.
Yellow: Parking with conditions or limited access.
Red: Private parking.

Street Parking

Portland uses a service called Parking Kitty for metering street parking. You can pay for street parking with the Parking Kitty app, or without an app at the green Parking Kitty stations on every block. They take debit/credit cards or, surprisingly, coins. Like any meter, you’ll need to pay again each time it runs out.
SmartPark
Portland operates five parking structures in downtown Portland which may offer extended parking. These are on the opposite side of the river from the convention, but there are many public transit options to get from there to the hotel.
These are all within a quarter mile (~3 city blocks) of TriMet bus or train lines directly to the hotel.

Parking garages are named by their cross-streets.
